MES PTO GLOSSARY
Jog A Thon
Biggest fundraiser of the year. The kids run laps coordinated by Mr. Lavallee. People can donate money per lap or a fix amount.
Enrichment Program
After school program open to all the students. Run by external facilitators or volunteer parents in the building. Divided in sessions of 4 or 5 weeks throughout the year. They start at 3.15 PM and end at 4.15/4.30 PM
Phonebook
People must complete the form to be added in the phonebook. Useful to coordinate playdates, birthdays, and used by the room parents to make announcements and raise money for teachers' gifts. All the kids receive a copy.
Popcorn Friday
Every Friday PTO volunteers pop fresh popcorn. The first few weeks of the of the school year, every kid receives a bag. For the rest of the year, families can sign up their kids for an annual fix rate
Room Parent
A volunteer from each classroom is the room parent. Their task is to shared important information to all the families in that classroom. For example, last minute volunteers request or raise money to buy gifts to teachers.
